How to Clean and Maintain your Jewelry

The next step in getting your jewelry organized is getting it clean and maintaining it. Taking care of your pieces will greatly increase the longevity of your pieces. See our best tips below:
Polishing your jewelry with a jewelry cloth can bring back the shine! (Use this one for solid brass only.)
Necklaces
When wearing long necklaces, be careful of seat belts and carrying children. These activities can put a lot of strain on the pendant or chain.
Bracelets
Roll bracelets over your hand. (See this demo). It's easy and will GREATLY increase the life of your stretch bracelets!
Brass Pieces
Make sure your piece is raw brass, because this tip will damage any finish or other metals. Polish brass using Brasso. If you have more sensitive skin, try
A Few Maintenance Tips:
-
Keeping your jewelry dry and clean is the key by avoiding wearing your jewelry while swimming, showering, and working out. Always put your jewelry on last after you have applied your body lotion, make-up and perfumes. They can contain some chemicals that can potentially damage your jewelry.
-
Remove your jewelry before going to bed. When we sleep we sweat and our skin releases oils which can affect the finish of your jewelry, not to mention that you can snag your sheets or scratch your skin while you sleep.
-
Avoid coating your jewelry with store bought products. All of our pieces are made to be hypoallergenic and come with a protective coating. Adding nail polish or a coating you may find at a big box store will negate that and in addition can over time breakdown your jewelry more quickly.
Come back next week for the final part of the series where we show you how to display your jewelry.

3 Tips to Keep Waterproof Jewelry Looking NEW
June 30, 2023
Hi,
So you know that Oh, So Fitting's waterproof pieces are designed to be worn in the pool, ocean, hot-tub, etc. They will stand up to the GA heat and keep on going!
However, here are a couple tips to keep your pieces in tip top shape:
1. This is a BIG one, even though I do it all the time. Letting your jewelry jiggle around in your purse for weeks is a recipe for having it break. Plus it's likely to get snagged on something. If you have to do it, then place it in a small bag (like the one it came in) to protect it.
2. Did you know that little white bag that came with your purchase can also be used to polish your pieces? If you can't find it then used an old tee shirt. If it's feeling especially dirty, soak your jewelry in warm water and mild dish soap.
3. Look at the jump rings holding your necklace or earrings together. Do any look like they are loose or coming open? If so send me an email or stop by any event and I'll tighten them.

How to accessorize when it's HOT & HUMID
June 13, 2023
Hi There,
If you are anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere then you know it's starting to heat up. I went outside to paint for an hour this morning and came back in dripping. How did that happen??
So, if you are going anywhere other than your back yard, then you want to look polished. But you don't want to worry that metal's natural enemies (heat and water) are going to destroy your jewelry. What should you do? Read on!
1. You don't want to have to worry about the heat and humidity harming your jewelry. What if you go for a dip in the ocean? You need stainless steel jewelry that can stand up to that!
2. When it's hot and sticky, the last thing you want to feel is your jewelry. Forget chunky jewelry and go for lightweight statement pieces! All Oh, So Fitting pieces are designed for you to forget that you're wearing them.
3. Pastels? Jewel tones? Neutrals? All of the above? (we've got them all!)
4. Do you like a tiny drop? Hoops? Pick ones that make you happy when you wear them!
